A great fall weekend event for the family with activities for the kids, a live reptile and amphibian show, an arts and crafts fair and special recognition of the environmental organizations committed to clean rivers, land preservation, and environmental sustainability.
Because sturgeon can live as long as 125 years, you and your family can follow your sturgeon for life. Each certificate has a unique tag number. Should your fish be found, you will be notified.

Our DNR partners caught two sturgeon in the Milwaukee River in the old North Ave. dam area while electrofishing for northern pike. The fish were most likely from batches that were released prior to the start of the sturgeon project at Riveredge. Nevertheless it's still good news since they've demonstrated that the fish are surviving and can navigate back up the Milwaukee River again. In a few short years the fish that have been raised here at Riveredge will hopefully do the same.

September 29, 2010 - Larry Meiller - 100929 F: After 11, Larry Meiller gets a preview of Sturgeon Fest this Saturday in Thiensville, WI. His guests are Mary Holleback of the Riveredge Nature Center in Newburg, and Brad Eggold of the DNR in MIlwaukee.
