Environmental Education
Since its inception in 1968, Riveredge Nature Center has become one of the premier nature centers in Wisconsin, building a solid reputation for innovative, science-based environmental education. Riveredge was a pioneer in developing environmental education programs with local school systems. Building on its early success, Riveredge offers continuing education courses for teachers of all grade levels in addition to the numerous school programs for children available at the Center from September to June.
Riveredge School Programs offer students the opportunity to experience and investigate the natural environment under the guidance of skilled environmental educators. Our environmental education programs are not just an everyday “walk in the woods”, but contain hands-on, inquiry based experiences allowing students to discover for themselves a myriad of ecological concepts. Emphasizing outdoor experiences in all seasons, we pride ourselves in keeping a low student to instructor ratio (10:1 for most programs) that allows us to give more individual attention to your students. In this way, students receive a special experience that is conducive to better learning and one that will not be forgotten.
