STURGEON FOUND RECENTLY:

One of the Riveredge Sturgeon was found recently in MICHIGAN!!!

One of our survey crews captured a PIT tagged lake sturgeon yesterday in Big Bay de Noc, northern Lake Michigan. According to the searchable PIT tag database maintained by the FWS the fish “belongs” to Olivia Marty (John Roffers - Purchaser). The data for the fish are as follows:

Date: 9/14/11

TL (cm): 58

FL (cm): 50.5

Girth (cm): 20

Lat: 45.86124

Long: 86.60832

This fish was oringally stocked in October of 2008. The fish was tagged on Sept 24 with a RV clip and PIT. The fish was 16 grams and 160mm at stocking. Looks like its growing about 140mm or 5.5 inches per year so far.

 Another Riveredge Sturgeon was found in INDIANA!

A private contractor doing work near Whiting, Indiana picked up a live sturgeon in their gill nets. 

This occurred on 10/4/2011. 

It measured 508mm and weighed 670 grams. 

It had a pit tag number of 985120032153375. The fish was released at Thiensville Park in 2008.
